On January 9, 2025, Gorton Company in collaboration with Tu Du Hospital organized a workshop on the value, applicability and new scientific evidence of Truscreen Opto-Electrical technology with leading international experts in gynecology and cervical cancer.

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Specialist level II. Tran Ngoc Hai – Director of Tu Du Hospital welcomed the seminar speaker – Professor Michael Campion. Accordingly, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai highly appreciated the Truscreen Opto-Electrical method as a cervical cancer screening method with fast results and proven accuracy, creating favorable conditions for patients to detect early, thereby allowing doctors to have early treatment solutions. That is also the reason for organizing this seminar with Professor Michael Campion, with the hope that Tu Du doctors will learn more about the Truscreen Opto-Electrical method.

The symposium speaker is Professor (Colonel), Dr. Michael J. Campion, a leading international expert on cervical cancer, currently Director of the Precancer Unit at the Gynaecological Cancer Centre, Royal Women’s Hospital, Sydney. He is Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of TruScreen Pty Ltd, the manufacturer of the TruScreen Cervical Cancer Screening Device. With over 40 years of experience, he has made significant contributions to research, teaching and clinical application, especially in the field of colposcopy and cervical cancer prevention. He has published over 60 research papers, receiving many prestigious awards such as the Victor-Bonney Prize (1986), the Warrane University Lifetime Achievement Award (2010) and an Honorary Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Sydney (2016). Professor Campion also pioneered the development of cancer screening programs in remote areas, contributing to improving women’s health in many countries.
At this conference, Professor Michael Campion shared about the value and application of Truscreen Opto-Electrical technology along with the latest updated scientific research on Truscreen.
Referring to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) goal of eliminating cervical cancer globally by 2030, specifically ensuring that 90% of girls are fully vaccinated against HPV before the age of 15, 70% of women aged 35-45 are screened for HPV infection and treated appropriately, 90% of women detected with pre-cancer or cancer can access treatment methods.

With the current situation of cervical cancer in Vietnam, Professor Campion believes that effective screening is important to control and prevent the disease. Regarding cervical cancer screening methods, besides traditional methods, there are also modern methods using new technology such as Truscreen (Australia), Digital cervicography (Korea).
With more than 30 research articles on Truscreen globally with more than 40,000 women participating in clinical studies, Professor Campion commented that the sensitivity and specificity of Truscreen were proven to reach about 80% in the above studies. At the same time, these scientific reports also show the advantages of the first-line screening method Truscreen Opto-Electrical in screening for disease coverage at all levels of health facilities: the method does not require tissue sampling and does not cost a laboratory, the Truscreen device is designed to be portable for easy transportation.
Truscreen Opto-Electrical Method measures the response deep into the tissue cells below the cervix using optical rays and voltage to detect precancerous and cancerous cervical tissue. Then, Truscreen’s integrated AI algorithm classifies the tissue in real time and delivers instant results.

In addition, the workshop was also attended by representatives of Truscreen Company (Australia) from the Australian Government Trade and Investment Agency in Vietnam (Austrade), Mr. Jonanthan Saw – Trade & Investment Counselor, Vietnam & Cambodia.
