On 24/10/2020, Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital organized a seminar “Updating new techniques in screening, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer” with more than 100 participants from the General Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics hospitals in the Mekong Delta region.
At the seminar, participants listened from experts of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City and University Medical Center HCMC presented 03 reports:
- Updated new Guideline of the American Society for Laparoscopy and Cervical Pathology;
- Cell changes during the formation and development of cervical cancer.
- Introducing the application of TruScreen photovoltaic technology in cervical cancer detection.


The experts’ presentation indicated the role of screening, diagnosis, early detection of cervical cancer as the best method to detect abnormalities, precancerous signs, or early stage cancer, before the disease causes symptoms and the chances of successful treatment were high.
In the next part, the application of new technology Optical – Electrical TruScreen was popularized and introduced at the seminar. It is a new, non-invasive method with up to 80% accuracy for classifying damaged tissues, helping to recognize precancerous, or neoplastic changes in the cervical epithelium.



At the end of the seminar, Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Ca Mau Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital signed a contract to transfer the application of TruScreen Optical – Electrical technology in cervical cancer detection. Thereby creating opportunities for people in the Mekong Delta to benefit from new technology in reproductive health care.
